Hospice can be provided in home or in a care center. Hospice is generally for those who are suffering from an illness from which they are not expected to survive for longer than around 6 months. Many prefer in-home hospice care as they are surrounded by their own belongings and are more comfortable. In-home hospice also requires that the patient have a network of others who can help provide necessary care. Depending on the situation, medical personnel visit frequently and help the patient and other caregivers with medication and other daily needs. In-home hospice can be provided through Medicare. Care center hospice provides 24-hour care for those whose home environment is not suited to the needs of the patient.
